Inside the British Embassy
Yesterday afternoon I was privileged to go on a tour of the British embassy. Paul had bought the tour in a charity auction, and was able to bring some of us lab folks with him.
We toured the older section of the embassy, as opposed to the new office building that houses the majority of the day-to-day operations. This building is the residence of the ambassador and is used for official functions. It was all very elegant.
Apparently, the embassy does not give regular public tours of the building, so it was quite the opportunity. We were greeted by the butler, and then given a personal tour by the wife of a staff member that is currently posted to the US.
Oh, and they gave us tea and tiny sandwiches, but more about that tomorrow.

ibrary was very tall, and almost shaped like a cube.

iginal Any Warhol painting of the queen. Despite the fact it is sprinkled with diamond dust, it is not the most expensive painting in the building.
