Outside the British Embassy
Last week, after we completed the tour inside the residence of the British embassy, we stepped outside to see the grounds and sit on the patio for a spot of tea.
It was a beautiful day - sunny yet cool - and would could not have asked for better weather to sit outside and eat delicious tiny sandwiches (though delicious tiny sandwiches are delicious no matter the weather).
In fact, the embassy had a whole spread waiting for us, and in addition to the delicious tiny sandwiches, they also had scones, cookies, and other munchables. As we sat down the embassy's official butler poured us tea that was prepared to stringent British standards.
Once sitting and eating, we continued to talk with our tour guide. She was, I must emphasize again, super nice and very knowledgeable, and provided us with a fantastic tour of the embassy. She is also a former parole officer, though upon coming to the US had to take a more mundane office job.
Overall, the experience was a fantastic one, and if anyone ever gets the opportunity to visit the embassy themselves, I highly suggest that they take advantage of it. And I am not only saying that because of the delicious tiny sandwiches.
aking pictures of me taking pictures of them. The cool gray patio areas are pieces of slate that have been stacked on end to create a really cool texture.
have a large back yard at the embassy. They bought it from a neighbor. Hopefully they don't get in trouble for it like Barack Obama.
ery nice tour guide watching over the pouring of the tea.

utler pouring tea. Neil was so impressed, that they gave him a container of it to take home. (Don't tell him that you can get Twinnings in the local grocery)
