Under Construction
A building around the corner from my physical therapists office just reached my favorite point in construction, when all of the concrete floors are stacked up, but before the exterior is added.
I like buildings at this point because they have a sense of depth and scale that is erased once the big sheets of glass are mounted. Once that happens the structure turns into just another big glass cube, amongst the hundreds of other big glass cubes downtown.
I'd imagine that if they recessed the glass by 5 feet instead of mounting it on the outside, it would not only keep the sense of scale supplied by the layers, but it would benefit energy efficiency by using the overhanging floors to block the summer sun.
eople in this picture give an idea as to the scale. They saw me taking the picture far below and the guy on the left is waving.
are great for adding a splash of color to any urban photo.
